In our opinion, the use of the "electronic whip" in a company like a "design bureau" is unacceptable. The "electronic whip" is an extremely peculiar thing, which sooner or later will end with the employees experiencing burnout.

The “electronic filter” is a relatively acceptable method of management, which is softer than the "electronic whip.” This concept allows you to see the details of processes well without over-control and helps to sort of "filter out" employees who don't like their work. The "motivational matrix" is a concept of comfortable and effective management. On the one hand, you understand the finer points of what is going on within the company. On the other hand, you can manage the company flexibly and react quickly to certain aspects of behavior that are desirable or, on the contrary, undesirable.

  • From the point of view of society,  methods of "electronic whip" do not work for a long period of time, while the use of a flexible and individually adaptable motivational matrix is effective, as it provides a special approach to each employee.
  • As for the "electronic filter," we stick to the idea that it is necessary not to "filter" employees, but to interest them. Using the "motivational matrix" we try to create and choose individually for the employee the most interesting and pleasant mode of work, so that he feels comfortable and it would be interesting for him to work.

important-informationAn example of this is the following situation: a person starts coming to work later or reduces the working hours, and these are not one-time peaks, but a trend. In this case, the management should get indirect information. Using various analytical tools, the management needs to find out what happened, why the person does that. And depending on this, adjust the “motivational matrix.” Perhaps the employee lost interest due to certain circumstances, and as you know, interest is the main incentive in the work. Thanks to the concept of the "motivational matrix," a management can return a person's interest. And when a person enjoys his work, he finds fulfillment in it and works much more effectively.

Using the "motivational matrix" approach goes against the idea of tyranny, but this does not mean that you cannot punish employees. It should be done in doses. Absolutely everything should not be replaced with punishment, because people burn out, and this does not really go along with the ideas of humanism. This is especially detrimental for the design bureau, because the outcome of the work depends on creativity and out-of-the-box thinking. If you punish people all the time, give them fines, and so on, they will not produce a good creative result.
